American Airlines generally allows a full refund for any ticket within 24 hours of purchase if the booking was made at least two days before departure. After this window, refunds are typically not available for non-refundable fares. However, even with non-refundable tickets, you can usually cancel before departure and apply the unused value toward a future flight within one year of the original issue date. This applies under their ticket flexibility benefit. Basic Economy fares are an exception.
